Happy Canada Day!
At the Institute, we’ve got to celebrate on our nation’s 153rd birthday. Our Board has grown; our Concept Deck was just released which gives you a great overview of our plans; we just marked the highest-ever profile National Health and Fitness Day; and our Institute is rebranding. Yes, more consistent with our vision is the new name, just confirmed by our Board to take effect this year on Canada Day:
The Canadian Health and Fitness Institute / Institut canadien de Santé et de l’Activité physique
To celebrate Canada Day and our new name, I’ll be biking from Vancouver to Whistler. If you want to support us, you can learn about our Healthy Selfie Initiative, donating auction items or buying tickets for our October 1st Gala, and making a tax-deductible donation. I’m going to donate a dollar for each of those beautiful 122 kilometers I’ll be riding; it would be great if you would contribute, too!
We’re not organizing a group ride to Whistler on Canada Day - too many logistics and safety issues - but if you want to meet along the way, I’ll be stopping at the best coffee shops in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor. If you’ll be at one of the stops, please let me know so I keep an eye out for you. Here’s the schedule for Wednesday, July 1st - Canada Day:
8:30-8:45am PT Harry Jerome Statue in Stanley Park
9:30-10am Delany’s Coffee Shop, 2424 Marine Drive, West Van
11:30am-12 noon Lions Bay General Store & Cafe, 350 Centre Rd, Lions Bay
1:30a-2pm Zephyr Cafe, 38084 Cleveland Ave., Squamish
4:30-5pm Blenz Coffee Shop, 101-4338 Main St, Whistler
Have a happy Canada Day. Let’s together “Make Canada the Fittest Nation on Earth”!
With best regards,
